KUCHING: Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd has started site clearing for the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) Red Line terminus in Pending.
The Red Line will cover 12.3 kilometres, starting from Kuching Sentral and including seven stations, with the final stop in Pending.
“The terminus station will also serve as the starting point for the Green Line from Pending to Damai Central, covering a distance of 30 km,” said Sarawak Metro in a Facebook post on Saturday.
Sarawak Metro, a subsidiary of the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), oversees the development, operation, and maintenance of KUTS under the Transport Ministry.
All three KUTS lines are expected to be fully operational by the end of 2027.
The Blue Line, spanning 27.6 km from Rembus to Hikmah Exchange, is currently under construction. Package 1 of the Blue Line, from Rembus to Stutong, is set to be completed by the end of 2025.
The entire Red Line is projected to be completed by the end of 2026, with all three lines, including the 30 km Green Line from Pending to Damai, fully operational by the end of 2027.
