DARO: The initiative by the Sarawak Labour Department to raise awareness on labour practices among the rural community was lauded by Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad.
He said the Community Labour Education Programme benefitted the people in Daro, reminding them to stay vigilant particularly with the rise in job scam cases.
“This initiative does not only allow better reach to the rural communities; it is the best platform to raise awareness about job scam cases.
“This programme raises awareness among our community and for them to always be cautious, especially when seeking employment,” he said.
He said this when met by the media after officiating at the programme at Daro Community Hall, here yesterday.
At the same time, Safiee urged proactive measures to be taken to prevent the people in Daro from being victims to job scams.
“So far, no complaints have been received regarding the community in Daro being involved in job fraud cases,” he said.
Meanwhile, on the recent trend of withdrawals from the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), the Daro assemblyman advised the people to utilise their savings wisely.
“The savings in EPF is meant to be used for the future. If it is not needed, I advise people not to rush to withdraw it even though the government allows it.
“This is because we need to consider future needs, for example, children’s education,” he said, adding that people should not allow themselves to be influenced by others.
