KUCHING: The Sessions Court today (Dec 14) has set the date of re-mention for case management on Jan 19 next year after a 35-year-old accused pleaded not guilty to three charges which were read by an interpreter before Judge Mohd Taufik Mohd @ Mohd Yusoff.
He was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code with raping a 14-year-old child in a park in front of a building in Petra Jaya between 12pm and 5pm in November 10.
For the second charge, he is accused of committing sexual assault by telling the victim to suck his penis at a house with an address in Kampung Wawasan Jaya at about 10pm on Nov 10.
Under Section 14 (b) of the Child Sexual Offences Act 2017, if found guilty, the accused can be punished with imprisonment of up to 20 years with a fine.
The court allowed the accused to be released on bail of RM6,000 with two local sureties.
