KUCHING: A total of 13 projects have been highlighted through the Innovative and Creative Group (KIK) of the state Land and Survey Department (JTS) to improve measurement work on the field.
Its director Datuk Abdullah Julaihi revealed that 12 of them were innovation projects on application development based on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) while another was a technical innovation project.
“This year, we made a slight change in the organisation of our JTS Innovative and Integrity Day (HIITS) by changing it to Prelude HIITS to allow our KIK to be given the space and an evaluation platform in preparation for the participation in the KIK Convention at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development.
“The approach paid off when our department’s KIK monopolised the top prizes at the convention by bagging the championship, which is the Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development Trophy, the runner-up and third place, along with Best Montage Award, Best Performance Award and four consolation prizes.
“On top of that, all 13 of our KIK projects passed the screening stage and subsequently qualified for the final stage of the Sarawak Civil Service Innovation Convention Award (SCSICA) 2022.9.14
“I hope that this year will end on a high note in the final stage of SCSICA 2022 this coming October,” he said during the JTS Innovative and Integrity Day at Riverside Majestic Hotel today.
Aside from the showcase, he added that the sharing of the results of the KIK project study which highlighted the issues and challenges faced by his department can be witnessed here to build confidence and strengthen public speaking skills among the leaders in his department.
“What is more important in the innovation we highlight is how the innovation itself changes the way we work to make it more efficient and exceed the expectations of our customers and stakeholders.
“Innovation based on the principle of strong identity with high integrity values will certainly preserve our delivery in servicing while increasing the public’s confidence in civil services, especially in the Land and Survey Department.”
He said his department has translated its vision and mission, which are “Excellence in Land Administration and Management” and “administering and managing land with the latest technology for the benefit of the people and Sarawak” respectively, into all of their actions in managing and administering the land in Sarawak.
