KUCHING: The Land and Survey Department (JTS) has introduced a new digital service system called the ‘Electronic Preparation, Attestation, and Registration System’ (ePARS).
JTS director Datuk Abdullah Julaihi said ePARS was developed by the department’s Innovation and Creative Group (KIK) from Serian named ‘Ingenuity’, led by superintendent Thian Choon Kui.
“The digital system would allow JTS officers to apply to be given authority on preparation, attestation, and registration. It is also open to lawyers registered with the Advocates Association of Sarawak.
“The system can be downloaded on mobile devices via Google Play or the App Store,” he said during JTS’ Innovation and Integrity Day closing ceremony at the Pullman Hotel here last night (August 11).
On another note, Abdullah said landowners can now apply for transmission or transfer of land ownership at any JTS counters throughout Sarawak.
He said that the preparation of an application for transmission (AT) and a memorandum of transfer-beneficiary (BT) previously could only be done by certain registration sections at divisional offices such as Samarahan and Sri Aman for land with a market value of less than RM10,000.
“We have opened all our counters throughout Sarawak for the public to choose whether they want to manage the process of land transfer to beneficiaries through JTS or obtain legal services.
“However, our services at our counters are far cheaper than legal services,” he said.
Also present were State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration, and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh, Ministry of Urban Development and Natural Resources permanent secretary Datuk Zaidi Mahdi, and other dignitaries.
