KUCHING: The Innovative and Creative Group Convention (KIK), in conjunction with the 2024 Innovation and Integrity Day for Land and Survey Sarawak (HIITS), was attended by 13 KIK teams from all divisions.

Land and Survey Sarawak director Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmood said the teams also implemented 13 projects, including eight innovations in developing systems to enhance online service delivery.

He said this is also in line with the “Digitalisation Of SCS Services To Public” policy and effort.

“Of these, five projects involved innovations in the creation of specialised equipment, particularly related to land measurement fields.”

Awang Zamhari said this during his speech at the HIITS programme at Waterfront Hotel Kuching.

He added that Lands Tahai Q Group from JTS Limbang Division was selected by the Sarawak Innovation and Transformation Unit (STIU), Sarawak Premier’s Department to participate in the International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC) to be held from Nov 11 to 14 in Colombo, Sri Lanka with their KIK project last year, namely Monitoring System for Survey Of Land Acquisition (MOSSLA).

“Thank you for this selection, which recognises Lands Tahai Q Group to represent Sarawak specifically and Malaysia generally at the international level.

“With regard to the group’s participation, I humbly represent the Land and Survey Department’s KIK practitioners and the Sarawak State Civil Servants KIK (PANS) practitioners, suggesting that any KIK group selected to participate in the ICQCC should not be limited to just five group members but should be given an opportunity for all group members to participate thoroughly,” he said.

Awang Zamhari informed that this is a recognition of all contributions that ensured the success of the KIK project by the group.

“In addition, I also suggest that all costs involving participation, travel, and accommodation be fully funded by the Sarawak Premier’s Department.

“The current practice is to limit participation to five members and costs are shared 50% by the agency and 50% by STIU.

“It is difficult for agencies to apply for budgets at the initial stage because ICQCC participation is determined by STIU. We place full confidence in Deputy Secretary to the Sarawak Government (Operations) Datuk Hii Chang Kee to support and consider this proposal.”

He also announced that the Land and Survey Department has won the EMAS Award at the 2023 Integrity, Governance, and Anti-Corruption Awards organised by the Malaysian Integrity Institute.

“To continue supporting and strengthening integrity development initiatives, JTS also awards recognition to 20 officers and staff from various grades this year to receive the Integrity Officer Award, which will be presented by the Premier at the HIITS 2024 Closing Ceremony on July 5.

“Additionally, JTS is in the process of preparing the Anti-Corruption Management System (ABMBS), which will be fully operational by the end of this year and subsequently launched at the Landas Summit 2025,” Awang Zamhari added.
