DALAT: Locals whose lands were affected by a road project have received compensation totalling RM169,603.75 from the government.
Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah handed over the cheques to 23 recipients involving 25 land lots, at a cheque presentation ceremony at a community hall in Kampung Medong Hulu here on Tuesday (July 14).
Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman, said the land would be used to build Jalan Kampung Medong-Lebrasau-Kampung Klid.
“The 11.5km road costs RM44.4 million and will be completed in 30 months,” she said.
The project contractor is Avos (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Kuching, and the contact period is from April 6, 2020 to Oct 5, 2022.
The project components included the main road (11.5km — R1 standard), a spur road, three bridges (Sungai Lebrasau, Sungai Peluan, Sungai Klid — 30m long respectively) and 20 culverts.
Abdul Halim Abdullah who represented Mukah Division Resident, Land and Survey Department Mukah Division superintendent Monaliza Ismail, Dalat District officer Kueh Lei Poh, Public Works Department Central Region Office assistant civil engineer Yazid Mustaba and Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib special officer Abang Hashim Zainudin also attended the event.
