SIBU: A fire broke out at a one-acre landfill site in Kampung Jerijeh, Tanjung Manis, here today (Sept 30).
Fire and Rescue Department Zone 4 chief Andy Alie said an emergency call regarding the incident was received at around 7.41am.
“A team of firefighters from the Tanjung Manis fire station was deployed to the scene, which is located approximately 19 kilometres from the station,” he said.
Andy said the fire had broken out in multiple areas, covering an area of one acre within the landfill.
“The team used two hose lines, each 200 feet long, equipped with three nozzles. They also used a water pump and utilised an open water source (a nearby lake),” he said.
The firefighters concluded the operation at 11.39am after ensuring that the fire was completely extinguished.
