BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Mushaf Nurul Iman, the largest Quran in Brunei Darussalam, impressed Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi during their visit on Monday (June 24).

Upon their arrival at the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Islamic Treasury Hall (BKISHHB) around 2.15pm, Wan Junaidi was given a briefing on the 255kg Quran by director Dr Awang Mohammed Hussain Pehin Penyurat Awang Ahmad.

Accompanying the couple were Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan with his wife Datuk Dayang Morliah Datuk Awang Daud, and Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki with his wife Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang.

The Sarawak Governor was fascinated by the explanation of the Quran, measuring 145cm in length and 95cm in width, which took nine months to complete and was fully prepared by June 30, 2006.

The Mushaf Nurul Iman is a gift from all Bruneians in conjunction with the 60th birthday of His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien on Aug 17, 2006.

BKISHHB serves as a repository and exhibition space for the personal Islamic collection of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

After visiting BKISHHB, Wan Junaidi and his entourage departed to attend the tahlil ceremony at the Kubah Makam Diraja on Jalan Tutong, Bandar Seri Begawan.

Following the ceremony, Wan Junaidi poured rose water over the Royal Mausoleum.
