By MAYA GREEN
I came to the meadows
And looked into the pool
It was still, and calm just like a mirror
Momentarily, I saw my reflection
Before the wind broke the calmness
It happened so fast
Here but only just, momentarily
My reflection was gone
I wondered, have I truly seen myself
Or was that how others see me
Like a reflection in the mirror
That’s how it is, this life that we have
We seldom see our own reflections
But our friends, families — even strangers
They have seen more of us
Seen our looks, as we go through the day
They see the different moods, emotions
They see the changes over the years
And even — over the hours in the day
We are seen — more by others than ourself
We wonder, how indeed we are seen
The composite effect and impressions
Will be very distinct in their minds
Are we an angel, a monster, or a rebel?
A kind hearted one, or an evil incarnate?
Time will tell, for certain
Our impressions on others will tell
Our true character will be exposed
So watch the impressions — that we make
It will be lasting, and impactful, on others
