KUCHING: Taxpayers are exempted from late payment penalty for assessment tax for the first half year of 2021 until Oct 31.

The North City Commission (DBKU) stated that the exemption is in response to the closure of the DBKU payment counters and the limited operating hours in May due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Having said that, the late payment penalty for assessment rates will be re-imposed starting Nov 1. Thus, the amount paid by the taxpayers who paid the late penalty for the assessment rated for the first half of the year will be credited into the assessment rates bill for the second half of this year,” it added in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 7).

For more information, the public may contact DBKU’s public communications division on 082-512200 or email prd@dbku.gov.my.
