KUCHING: Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki has described the late former Head of State Tun Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng as a leader who had contributed significantly to Sarawak.
“He was the Governor twice. During his reign as Governor, he did a fantastic job and the people lived in peace, prosperity and harmony,” he said.
“May the late Tun Salahuddin be protected by Allah and may his soul be placed among the faithful. Our condolences to his family,” he added.
Ibrahim said this to reporters after his Chinese New Year meet-and-greet session with the people in Satok area here on Saturday (Jan 29).
Salahuddin, aged 100, died of natural causes at Normah Medical Centre at around 11.45pm on Friday (Jan 28).
He served as the third and sixth Head of State from 1977 to 1981 and then again from 2001 to 2014, being the first person to hold the post twice.
