KUCHING: The construction for the proposed Lawas Hospital is expected to take up duration of 36 months.
However, it will also depend on the tender procurement process.
This was said by Assistant Minister of Housing and Public Health Dr Annuar Rapaee in reply to a question by Baru Bian (PKR – Ba’Kelalan) during the State Legislative Assembly sitting here on yesterday.
“This project involves Phase 1 with a cost of RM2.4 million, Phase 2A with a cost of RM25.6 million and Phase 2B with a cost of RM200 million.
“Phases 1 and 2A have been completed whereas Phase 2B is in progress.
“The tender for Phase 2B has been opened on 4 May 2017 and will be closed on 1 August 2017,” he said.
He added that up to now, only 12.3 per cent of the overall fund of RM228,162,499 has been used.
Answering another question by Chee Kadir (BN – Kabong) on whether the state government has plans to build a new clinic in Nyabor, Annuar said that there is none at the moment.
“However, the clinic has been listed under the Sarawak Rural Transformation Plan this year to be repaired using the Blue Ocean Strategy approach together with the Akademi Binaan Malaysia.
Chee explained that the clinic in Nyabor is made of wood, getting dilapidated, and is prone to catching fire.
Meanwhile, Annuar also answered a question from Safiee Ahmad (BN – Daro) on the status of the clinic in Daro that was burned down in October 2015.
“An allocation of RM35 million has been approved to build a Type 4 clinic complete with quarters in Daro and is still in its planning stages,” he answered.
In addition to that, he answered a question by Rolland Duat Jubiin (BN – Meluan) on the state government’s plans to build a new clinic in Julau complete with facilities.
“The clinic in Julau can accommodate 150 patients a day and according to records in 2016, the average number of patients a day is 120.
“Therefore, there is no plan to build a new clinic there,” he said.
