KUCHING: The Para Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2024 kicked off with the lawn bowls event at the Sarawak Lawn Bowls Arena today (Sept 22).

Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam, also the Para SUKMA 2024 Chef de Mission, visited the venue to cheer on the athletes.

Sarawak’s para lawn bowls coach, Saiful Adli Sami, was impressed with his team’s performance on the opening day.

“We still have several matches left in our group, so we’re focused on scoring points to advance to the top group,” he told reporters.

“We have a strong chance in the B3 Singles category, so we’re splitting our efforts between the open and single events to maximise our gold medal potential.”

The lawn bowls event will continue until Sept 28.
