LCDA donates to orphans, less fortunate groups

KUCHING: A contribution totalling RM10,100 was presented to 101 orphans and individuals with disabilities from 13 villages within the Darul Hana project area here.

The ‘Sumbangan Hari Raya’ donation by Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) was presented by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang to the recipients during the Darul Hana iftar ceremony at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) yesterday (Apr 11).

At the same time, the programme saw the presentation of business zakat (tithe) totalling RM2,105,307 by LCDA general manager Datuk Monaliza Zaidel to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) general manager Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie.

This is part of LCDA’s annual responsibility (CSR) programme to give back to the community to ease the burden of the unfortunate during the fasting month as they prepare for the upcoming Hari Raya celebration.

Earlier, more than 500 guests, including LCDA employees, Kampung Seberang Hilir community leaders, department heads from relevant agencies, and other project stakeholders engaged in the Darul Hana redevelopment, attended the programme.

It also saw Abang Johari joining Muslim guests for maghrib, isyak and tarawih prayers.

Also present were Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi and his wife Datin Siti Shorgayah Ahmad Zaidin; Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration, and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh; and Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development Martin Ben, board members of LCDA and its group of companies.
