LANGKAWI: The unveiling of the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 by the Special Advisor in the Sarawak Premier’s Department Datuk Amar Jaul Samion marked the commencement of the Leadership Forum 2024.
The forum is being held at The Ritz-Carlton resort here, yesterday (Jan 27).
With detailed explanations, Jaul, serving as the first panellist, successfully captured the attention of approximately 200 participants, including local leaders, influential figures, division chiefs, and stakeholders from across the country.
In addition to a comprehensive overview of PCDS 2030, he presented information on economic recovery measures and several proposals to improve post-pandemic conditions outlined by the Sarawak government, aiming to achieve the status of an advanced state by 2030.
The first day witnessed insights from invited panels, such as senior economist in the United Nations Resident Coordinator for Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei Dr Richard Marshall, who discussed progress and prospects of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Malaysia and Sarawak.
Other presentations included insights on sustainability and climate action leadership by Roland Berger’s senior partner, David Frans, who also co-leads Roland Berger’s global Sustainability and Climate Action Centre of Excellence, followed by a session on Renewable Economy and Policies by Roland Berger’s partner, Dieter Billen.
Throughout the presentation sessions, participants had the opportunity to pose questions and exchange views with the panellists.
The forum, organised by the Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence (SCOPE) in collaboration with Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS) and Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), began at 9 am and concluded at 5 pm.
Notable attendees at the forum included Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, State Attorney General Datuk Saferi Ali, State Financial Secretary Datuk Seri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar, Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Datuk Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datuk Hii Chang Kee, PETROS chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Hamid Bugo, and other distinguished figures.
