KUCHING: Obtaining knowledge is not confined to any particular age group. Whether one is young or old, there is always new knowledge to be acquired that can enhance one’s abilities.
Take Jahri Sahari, for example. At the age of 54, he remains eager to learn and gain more knowledge.
Jahari was among the graduates who received their diplomas at the Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS) eighth Convocation Ceremony.
He graduated with certificates in Welding Inspector 3.0 and Welding Technology (Plastic + Inspector) courses.
When interviewed by New Sarawak Tribune, Jahari said that it is never too late for someone to achieve their ambitions and further refine their talents.
The instructor at the Industrial Academy (Faculty of Electricity and Smart Homes at CENTEXS) expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to continue his studies in the field of welding.
He stressed the importance of seizing this opportunity to the fullest and not squandering it, as not everyone has the chance to further their education in this specialised area.
“My job being in the welding department, I want people to assess my welding skills, to see whether they meet the standards or not.
“Moreover, I aim to enhance my skills. I don’t want to remain just a welder indefinitely,” he said.
Furthermore, Jahari is confident about the good marketability at CENTEXS and the bright prospects in the welding industry.
He added that many large and medium-sized industries are currently seeking workers due to a manpower shortage.
This is why Jahari encourages everyone to seize the chance to refine their talents and elevate their skill level.
“The enrolment of students at CENTEXS starts from the age of 18, and the public should seize this chance to upskill at this institution,” he said.
Meanwhile, Aminuddin Naufal, the top student in the Augmented Reality: EON-XR course, said that this achievement marks a step forward in his learning and skill development journey.
“This has enabled me to develop further skills and opened up greater opportunities in other industries I wish to explore. I hope to contribute to Sarawak’s economy as well,” he said.
For now, he said that he is undergoing training for another programme, expected to last about 10 months.
“While I have received interview offers from some companies, I must put them on hold for now as I am still in training to obtain my second certification,” he added.
