SIBU: Parti Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak (Aspirasi) members have been urged to remain calm and patient to allow the Registrar of Societies to investigate the leadership crisis in the party.

Its deputy chairman Simon Tiong while waiting, its leaders will continue to serve the needs of the community.

The party has been embroiled in a leadership crisis with rival camps claiming to be the rightful stewards of Aspirasi.

In a statement on Tuesday, Tiong claimed the vote of no confidence taken against president Lina Soo at the Feb 12 annual general meeting was constitutional.

“Despite her membership being revoked, we noticed with regret that Soo continued to claim she is still the president.

“Many members are confused, why when a party resident membership is revoked and official letter served on her, she can still claim to be party resident. It is ridiculous,” he said.

Soo had previously claimed a power grab was carried out illegally during the AGM.
