MIRI:  Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin presented a cheque for RM580,000 to the CEO of Laku Management Sdn Daneil Punang for the pipeline extension project to Kampung Senadin Jaya and Kampung Damai Jaya Miri.

The simple presentation ceremony was held yesterday (March 29) at Laku Management Office here. This project was initiated by Laku Miri Area Ofice on September 22 last year upon Lee’s request.

Both villages are located approximately 12.2 kilometres from Miri City centre.

The pipelines to the villages were not linked due to improper and narrow access road.

The objective of this project is to extend treated water supply to both villages which were previously squatter areas.

Kampung Damai Jaya and Kampung Senadin Jaya residents rely on rainwater as their primary water source and some are sharing a two-inch pipeline.

The project to extend the pipeline to the villages will benefit approximately 122 households.

The total estimated pipe length is 2.52 kilometres with an estimated cost of RM580,000.
