KUCHING: The penalties for defying the smoking ban should be imposed by the Ministry of Health officers, said Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang yesterday.
He made the comment when approached by New Sarawak Tribune on the smoking ban issue.
Lo observed that some smokers had complied with the ban.
“They will smoke outside the eateries at a certain distance,” he said.
“The Ministry of Health will inform us when they receive any complaints from the public about the smoking ban but so far, we have yet to receive any.
“At the moment, we are still in the six-month probation period to promote awareness and educate the public on this issue,” he explained.
