KUCHING: For Sarawak to have control over its own defence measures, the state has to be on its own, said Batang Sadong MP Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
“Right now, the whole matter is under the federal authorities,” she said when asked to comment on the recent arrests of suspects who were allegedly involved in Daesh activities and were planning to launch attacks on political party leaders and non-Muslims in Malaysia.
She said it is not for her to comment on the matter.
“For this one, we cannot interfere as I am sure that they have discussed it with our state security council.
“It is not for us to make any efforts, although as Sarawakians we still have to be careful,” she said.
Nancy also said that she will take part in a discussion on terrorism in the near future, where she will act as one of the moderators.
She added, “We are very much involved as Malaysians. Even though we are not in the government anymore, we have contributed a lot to issues in the past.”
