KUCHING: The Borneo Illustration and Creative (BIC) Festival Volume 2.0 is currently taking place at La Promenade Mall, featuring 36 exhibitors who will be showcasing their artworks until July 9.

The festival, organised by Nia Latif of Creative Umbrella Co., has the theme “Sarawak Day: The Revival of Cultural Celebrations” and offers an immersive experience to explore the rich artistic heritage of Sarawak.

According to Nia Latif, the festival serves as a platform to discover local talents, celebrate creativity, and bridge the gap between the creative industry and the public. Its purpose is to foster acceptance, raise awareness, and promote appreciation for the arts, heritage, and culture.

The festival was launched by the Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim at La Promenade Mall today (June 24).

In addition to the festival, there are noteworthy installation art pieces inspired by Sarawak. One of them is “Tree of Solidarity” by Chameleon Art Studio, symbolising collective strength. Another thought-provoking exhibit, “Love From Above” by ArtTod Art Studio, emphasises love and compassion. The Fun Art Club presents “The Land of Hope,” an installation that represents people’s hopes and desires.
