KUCHING: Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah has refused to comment on Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s resignation as Prime Minister yesterday.
“Let’s wait for (the) Chief Minister (Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg)’s announcement,” she said.
“For me, I believe this question is much more suitable to be answered by the Chief Minister as the leader of the state.
“This is because we are all in the same boat, waiting for the next development in politics.
“All of us should leave it to the wisdom of the Chief Minister because we believe that he knows best the sentiments of Sarawakians and the direction of Sarawak.
“It is very clear to him and we should all be behind him,” she told reporters at a press conference here yesterday.
Fatimah, who is also Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Women’s chief, further said the wing had already declared that they were in both state election mode and mood.
“We have started our preparations for the election machinery at 11 constituencies…as of now, with the recent three constituencies just officiated on Sunday — Tanjong Datu, Pantai Damai and Demak Laut,” she said.
When asked to comment on the idea of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) being included in a new coalition led by Dr Mahathir, she said she knew the answer but refused to comment until the Chief Minister announced it.
