Library reaches out to Tellian folk in literacy effort

MUKAH: A Sarawakku Membaca Programme was held in the Tellian constituency as part of efforts to cultivate the reading habit and enhance literacy among the people. 

Organised by the State Library branch in Sibu (Pustaka Sibu) it was aimed at promoting knowledge, information, and awareness to the public in the area.

According to a Pustaka Sibu statement on Monday (Dec 4), the closing ceremony of the programme took place here on Dec 2.

“The closing was officiated by Temenggung Hendi Suhai, representing Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine,” it said.

Pustaka Sibu said the Sarawakku Membaca Programme, which included various activities, was conducted in various longhouses and schools from July to November in the Tellian constituency.

Several awards were presented during the ceremony, including the Adult Literacy Programme Graduation Ceremony, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Competition and the Children’s Storytelling Competition.
