LAWAS: Sarawak State Level Nasyid Festival this year saw Limbang Division team emerging victorious in both the traditional and modern categories. Adda’ie Team with its song ‘Sinar Kehidupan’ was declared the winner of the traditional nasyid category.
In second place was a member of the Betong Division team Zahran who performed the song ‘Cinta Humaira’ while in third was Kuching team representative Azzufar. Meanwhile, in the modern category Lawas representative Al-Hajam prevailed over the others to take the top spot, followed by Awwabin from Kuching Division in second place and D’Uteqma representing Kota Samarahan in third. For best traditional song composition, Shahrizan bin Sarbini from Betong Division with the song ‘Cinta Humaira’ sung by Kumpulan Zahran took the top spot.
The best lyric for traditional song was won by Mohd Saiful bin Arif with his composition ‘Bergema di Akhir Zaman’ performed by Adda’ie Team representing Limbang. For the modern nasyid song lyric category Mohd Saifuldillah bin Sarbini prevailed over the others. The song was performed by Al-Hajam group from Lawas District.
Kuching’s Qiesya Group won the Best Performance award. The prizes were handed over to the winners by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
Speaking earlier at the closing ceremony of the contest, Assistant Minister of Rural Electricity Dr. Haji Abdul Rahman Bin Haji Junaidi pointed out that this time around, the performance was able to inject new breath into the nasyid songs.
It is a good sign as it is a step forward in presenting messages through nasyid songs, he further said. As such he hoped through modern technology nasyid performance could be further improved and enhanced in order to attract the younger generations.
