More than 1,000 students from over 60 countries received their scrolls from Limkokwing University’s second convocation ceremony for the year on December 22 at Putrajaya International Convention Centre.
An Honorary Doctorate in Leadership was conferred upon Datuk Mohd Azis Bin Jamman, the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, to recognise his highly distinctive capability in people management enhanced by his talent and skills in new media technology.
Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr Limkokwing was awarded the Father of Innovation in Africa by The Bizz Awards in 2014 for his outstanding achievements and exceptional contributions.

More than 1,000 students from over 60 countries received their scrolls from Limkokwing University’s second convocation ceremony for the year on December 22 at Putrajaya International Convention Centre.

Up to date, a total of more than 12,000 students from Limkokwing University worldwide have graduated, unleashing an empowered pool of talented young people with the requisite skills to meet and exceed industry expectations.

The graduation ceremony was attended by the Chancellor of Limkokwing University, Duli Yang Maha Mulia (DYMM) Sultanah of Pahang Hajjah Dr Kalsom, who presided over the graduation.

Also present was the Minister of Education and Training from the Kingdom of Eswatini (Swaziland), Hon. Lady Howard Mabuza. In addition, dignitaries and parents from over 60 countries also celebrated this milestone.

In her speech, Lady Howard Mabuza said that she was delighted to be able to attend the graduation ceremony. She thanked Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr Limkokwing for the skills and knowledge that LKW University brought to their nation, adding that the education has given them the confidence that, despite eSwatini being a small nation, can make a difference through the power of their youths.

Designing for illustrative, high-income, high-careers Futures

The theme for this year’s graduation, “Design the Future”, illustrates the caliber of Limkokwing graduates who are regarded worldwide as leading innovators and creative thinkers.

Going through the journeys of transforming themselves into creators and designers of their own paths with powerful imaginations, excellent communication skills, and displays of excellent strategic visions which makes them the choice of top multi nationals in all industries they are entering.

They project optimism and are always receptive to new ideas. They inspire and motivate through actions and are highly innovative individuals who excel in all industries and make a difference by driving innovation and creating a conducive environment for innovation to thrive in the global marketplace today.

The Class of 2018 consists of graduates from countries as far-flung as Europe, Africa, Asia, and Malaysia. More than 80% are international students that reaffirms our University as Malaysia’s most international institute of higher learning.

A total of 52 special awards were presented to outstanding students in various fields such as the Chancellor’s Award for Academic Excellence, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr Limkokwing Award for Leadership, the University Colours for Ambassadorship, and the Command Performance Special Award.

Honorary Doctorate for Leadership

During the graduation event, an Honorary Doctorate in Leadership was conferred upon Datuk Mohd Azis Bin Jamman, the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, to recognise his highly distinctive capability in people management enhanced by his talent and skills in new media technology. As a Deputy Minister, he effectively uses his skills in media technology to efficiently engage with people as a vital part of his commitment to finding solutions to social issues.

Hailing from Sabah, Datuk Mohd Azis Bin Jamman received his degree in computer science with a Minor in mathematics from the United States of America. Since then, he pursued a career in the academic world and entered politics in 2009. Barely a decade of his involvement in the political world, he has rapidly risen up the ranks and now, at the tender age of 44, held a position as the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs in the new era government of Malaysia.

In his speech, Azis expressed his admiration for Tan Sri Limkokwing’s vision, energy and capability in building the skills of the world’s next generation. According to Azis, Tan Sri Limkokwing has made such strong connections with governments from across the world and he believes that this is strengthening Malaysia’s international relations tremendously. The sterling work that Limkokwing has put in to connect with the United Kingdom as they revive and strengthen their Commonwealth connections is being given a boost through his collaboration.

In addition, the University and its President & Founder, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr Limkokwing, has won more than 300 awards for creativity and innovation in education from the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia and Africa over the last few years.

In 2017, he was bestowed with the Commonwealth Champions awards for his continuous efforts in promoting youth development through education. He is only the eighth person in the history of the commonwealth to receive the award.
