KUCHING: Judging from the many public and private statements against Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng’s ‘bankruptcy’ remark, it is pretty obvious that DAP has made Sarawakians angry, says a political observer.
“If you insult Sarawak, Sarawakians will react and will not leave you alone and let you get off scot-free,” said Dato Peter Minos, adding that Lim’s statement was bad and dangerous because if it was taken seriously, then both foreign and local investors and businessmen “will run away from Sarawak”.
This, he said, would adversely affect Sarawak’s economy, resulting in unemployment, depression and poverty.
“I’m just wondering why Lim as Minister of Finance and an accountant, does not know the implications of what he said. A reckless and thoughtless action.”
The statement, he added, was made with bad intentions.
“What’s in their hearts come out from their mouths.
“Sarawakians must know this and be aware. We thus fully agree with our chief minister that ‘outsiders’ merely pay lip service to Sarawak.
“Deep inside, they are eyeing the economic potentials from Sarawak for their greed and gain,” said Minos, who is chairman of the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council.
He said Sarawak already lost its vast oil and gas resources and so should not let the ‘outsiders’ reap some more.
“Worse is when ‘outsiders’ take away our resources and then insult you and say bad things about you. That’s what DAP does to us in Sarawak.”
