A LION AIR jet carrying 182 passengers and seven crew slipped as it landed in heavy rain in Pontianak, West Kalimantan yesterday afternoon.

A passenger filmed the touchdown in heavy rain at Pontianak, West Kalimantan.

The 737 hurtled along the runway before skidding onto grass, causing the jet’s front wheels to collapse.

The aircraft was operating a Jakarta-Pontianak service, with 182 passengers and seven crew members on board, Lion Air spokesman Danang Mandala Prihantoro said in a statement.

It slid off the runway as it was trying to land at Supadio International Airport, a regional hub airport that services a small number of international flights.
