MUKAH: Three lion dance teams will participate in the Sarawak State Lion Dance Championship 2024 at the Guong Ming National Type School (SJK) Multi-Purpose Hall in Sibu from July 12 to 15.

Ho Ing Siong, chairman of the Mukah Lion and Dragon Dance Club, stated that one of these teams has received sponsorship from the Foochow Association Mukah.

“With this sponsorship from the association, it helps ease the financial burden on parents sending their children to participate in the championship.

“Moreover, it also provides encouragement and allows the participating students to showcase their talents at a higher level,” he said.

He said this when met by reporters at the ceremony for Sponsorship Presentation from the Foochow Association Mukah at SJK (C) Chong Boon, here, on Wednesday night.

He explained that the team receiving sponsorship from the Foochow Association Mukah will represent the association at this championship.

As such, Ho hopes that all three teams will bring home medals and bring glory to Mukah through their success.

“In the past, it was difficult for us to obtain sponsorship from any party. Now it is somewhat easier, which is a positive development for our association to participate in future championships.

“Additionally, such support and sponsorship help in the advancement of this art form in Mukah,” he added.

He further mentioned that 17 students from SJK (C) Chong Boon, SMK Three Rivers and SMK St. Patrick would be participating in the championship.
