Lions members come to aid of fire victims

SIBU: Lions Club members members have come together to provide assistance after Rh Rebah at Nanga Tutus, a longhouse about 38 kilometres from here, was destroyed by fire on Feb 18.

Supplies including hardware, food and daily necessities worth RM3,500 were contributed to the fire victims by Lions International District 308-A2, Region 2 and Region 3 Lions Clubs  

In a joint press release they stated that the funds for the supplies was allocated from the District 308-A2 Foundation.

Individual donations were also made by Immediate Past District Governor Kapitan Connie Loh Ming Hua, District Chairperson Alert Region 1-4 Dato Jimmy Tie , Lions Club of Sibu Sungai Merah, Past District Governor Augustine Ngu and Wong Eng Siong.

Among those in attendance to witness the handing over of donations were Past District Govenor Dato Betty Wong Yieng, Zone 4 Chairperson Godfrey Ting, Region 3 Chairperson Vincent Lau and other Lions members.

In the fire, seven families comprising 31 members  were made homeless after their longhouse was destroyed.
