SIBU: Lions Clubs International District 308-A2 for Region 2 and Region 3 on Tuesday combined forces to help fire victims of the 36-door Rumah Michael Maran in Nanga Lasi, Julau which was ravaged by fire last Thursday evening.
The Lions Clubs participated in the effort via fundraising and purchasing supplies and necessities.
Numerous individuals also made donations, including Dato Hii Hua Seng and District Chairperson for Alert Region 1-4 Dato Jimmy Tie.
A grant of RM5,000 from 308-A2 District Foundation was also contributed to the disaster relief efforts.
Among those present to hand over the donations were Immediate Past District Governor Kapitan Connie Loh Ming Hua who is also District Foundation Chairperson, Past District Governor Augustine Ngu and Tie.
On Sept 28, the double-storey wooden longhouse was devastated by fire, leaving 189 victims displaced and causing significant losses.
One disabled individual aged 49 perished in the blaze.
