KUCHING: Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How should have first checked with the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry regarding the RM10,000 loan for delivery riders before making any statement that the loan is not available.
Its Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar was commenting on See’s remarks that he had visited Tabung Ekonomi Kumpulan Usaha Niaga (Tekun) Nasional offices here and found that they have no knowledge of the availability of the interest-free loan worth RM10,000 to buy a motorcycle equipped with a delivery box.
“The problem is not that the programme is unavailable. It could be that the officers whom he (See) had enquired from were not aware of such programme,” Wan Junaidi said yesterday.
Wan Junaidi, who is also Santubong MP said, See should have looked for the ministry and checked on the matter.
“Don’t be syok sendiri (self-thrill) and just simply put out a statement to say that there is no such programme at all.
“This is not the way to bring services to the people, but just wanting to find other people’s mistake,” he said.
On June 23, See in a statement said several Sarawakians had contacted Tekun Nasional offices in the state and banks which are participating in Tekun Nasional’s easy access micro credit financing facilities and was told there was no such facilities.
Tekun Nasional in early April 2020 introduced an interest-free financing scheme for delivery riders (Tekun Mobilepreneur 1.0) with a maximum financing value of up to RM2,000. This scheme is to assist motorcycle e-hailing riders to repair their motorcycles or install additional accessories.
Due to the need and demand for these delivery services, Tekun Mobilepreneur 2.0 financing scheme was announced, and it has a maximum financing value of up to RM10,000. The scheme aims to provide delivery riders assistance in purchasing new motorcycles.
Tekun Mobilepreneur 2.0 will be launched on July 7, 2020 and all e-hailing riders who meet the requirements can apply for the scheme.
