KUCHING: Borneo Illustration and Creative (BIC) is bringing BIC Festival Vol. 1 here, co-organised by Creative Umbrella Co, to help local creatives in their pursuits.
Themed “Sarawak Day; This Place We Call Home”, this free event will be held from July 23-31 (July 30 excluded) at Pustaka Negeri Sarawak here from 9am-5pm.
The event will include subprogrammes such as visual art exhibition, walk-in activities, interactive workshops, creative ethical market and demonstrations.
“The visual art exhibition will group more than 300 participants from near and far consisting of illustrators, special needs, artists, ceramicists, hobbyists and some members from Sarawak Artists Society, producing over 300 selected visual artworks for sale.
“Additionally, many more illustrations done by the juniors, including seven pieces of installation art, from Natural Dye Fabric by Alit, to Repurposed Fashion by Henry Lee Leo Kuang, and film screening produced by the local filmmaking community, will be available as well,” a press statement said.
Free interactive walk-in activities for visitors of all ages happening during the weekends ranging from “Tree of Life” Painting Activity, Illustration Corner, Batik Painting to DIY Flower Sewing conducted by team from the Pustaka Negeri and many more.
“Besides that, over 30 interactive workshops, which will run on selected dates over the course of the eight days, by Heart Treasures, Gardencraft Co, Ika Story House, Chameleon Art Studio, Fun Art Club, Little Story Club, Soulistic Garden, among others.
“For the creative ethical market, Ithaca Books, Sangon, Jenelle Candles, The Chop Shop, Hephaestus Crystals, Juiceguy, Ink Spot, The Kuching Plant Club and more will be selling over the weekend ranging from innovative F&B using infused local ingredients, 3R second-chance items and sustainable handmade products by the local artisan community.
“Last but not least, artistic demonstrations of techniques by exhibitors such as Vince Dwayne on ink mixed media, Paik San on watercolour, Hanie Mohd on copic markers technique and many more will be held on weekdays throughout the duration of the event.”
