KABONG: Fire broke out in the kitchen of a local eatery located in Kampung Hilir Darat here on Wednesday.
The Saratok Fire and Rescue Station received a distress call regarding the incident and dispatched a team to the scene.
Fortunately, the Kabong Community Firefighting Squad (PBS) and local residents have already taken initial measures to contain the fire prior to the arrival of Saratok Fire and Rescue Station. Using two fire extinguishers, they managed to suppress the flames
The non-permanent building covering an area of 12 x 15 square feet, had minimal damage of about ten per cent only.
The fire, which originated in the kitchen area, posed no immediate threat to other surrounding properties.
No casualties were reported. The cause of the fire and the total damages are under investigation.
