KUCHING: The High Court here today sentenced a local man to two years’ jail, after he pleaded guilty to smuggling three foreigners into the state last year.
Judge Azahari Kamal Ramli ordered the accused, in his late 30s, to be jailed starting October 18 last year.
The accused, who pleaded guilty under Section 26J of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007, pleaded guilty to smuggling three foreigners named Joshua Wanda Alvio, Bong Se Nyuk and Felicia at 7.50am at the intersection of Kampung Telok Serabang near Lundu on Oct 18, 2020.
He also admitted using a sedan car with registration number QAA 9XXX P while carrying out the smuggling activity.
