SIBU: A 21-year-old man with disabilities has been reported missing in a forest behind his house in Durin, Sibu Jaya this morning (Nov 12).
The victim is identified as Kong Chak Meng and he is reported to be grappling with mental health issues.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Sibu Jaya station were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call around 10.15 am.
Preliminary information from witnesses, the victim was last seen in a forest area behind his house.
The initial search and rescue (SAR) operation involving six firefighters, nine policemen and 11 locals, covered a 1km radius in the forest.
However, at 3.30 pm, the search shifted to the left side of the victim’s house, expanding the search radius to 1.5km.
Despite the collaborative efforts, the victim is yet to be found.
The search operation was postponed at 4.55 pm due to darkness and it will resume today (Nov 13).
