KUCHING: Hope Place Kuching recently provided assistance to a stroke patient and his family.

The charitable non-governmental organisation (NGO) said 55-year-old Fozi Assek is currently bedridden, and living in Kota Samarahan.

Fozi, who used to be a driver, suffered a stroke in November last year which left him incapacitated.

Although the doctors have said that Fozi’s condition is temporary, he is currently on tube feeding mode and taking special milk supplements once every three hours.

“He has four children and three of them are still schooling. Therefore, the family has to depend solely on his wife, Siti Zaiton for income,” Hope Place said in a statement today (Feb 16).

Siti is the backbone of the family, she not only takes care of her bedridden husband and their children but also operates a hawker stall at Sekama.

“Her beef noodles are one of the best and popualr among locals. Determined to make ends meet, she also works as a cleaner in the afternoon,” it said.

Hope Place expressed its gratitude to donors who have generously contributed special milk supplements and adult diapers for individuals like Fozi.

Priced at more than RM100 per can, families like Fozi’s are unable to afford the milk formula given that he consumes 10 to 12 cans monthly.
