MIRI: A 60-year-old local woman has been detained by the police during a drug raid on Thursday (June 6).
The raid, which took place around 7.30pm at a house here, led to the discovery and seizure of a substantial quantity of drugs and other valuable items.
Miri Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said 70.20 grams of suspected Syabu-type drugs, with an estimated street value of RM 7,300.50, were found at the scene, on top of cash and jewellery worth approximately RM 77,000.00.
“The detained woman is currently being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said today (June 8).
The suspect was brought to the Miri Court on June 7, where she was remanded for six days, until June 12, to assist in the ongoing investigation.
The remand period is crucial for the police to gather more evidence and build a strong case against the suspect, Alexson said.
