KUCHING: Lodge International School raised more than RM36,000 for the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS).
Three teachers, including principal Markus Gatuman, three parents and 15 students went bald for the campaign.
A food sale was also held, with students and teachers from both primary and secondary sections setting up stalls.
“We are very thankful to everyone who took part. SCCS is a cause close to our hearts, and it is very encouraging to see our students and staff participating so wholeheartedly as a community.
“Lodge International School is a community school, and we love having the opportunity to give back and to learn through this valuable experience,” said Gatuman.
“We exceeded our target because of the generosity of all those who contributed, and it has been a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn more about childhood cancer and to realise that they can also play a part in spreading awareness and in making a valuable contribution to society,” said Ilbeth Lim, head of the Humanities Department.
21 people (three teachers, three parents and fifteen students) went bald for the campaign, including the principal of Lodge International School, Markus Gatuman, and over 200 people attended the event in person.
A food sale was also held for fundraising, with students and teachers from both primary and secondary setting up stalls.
The initiative was held as part of the school’s Humanities Week, which focuses on ‘Good Mental Health and Wellbeing’ and included talks on mental health for the students as well as interactive mindfulness activities.
Also present at the event were the director for Lodge Group of Schools Su Hiong Ai; the executive director for SCCS Jodie Sim, as well as the students and leadership team of Lodge International School.
