SIBU: Marine police here last Monday (Apr 18) seized various types and sizes of logs at Durin stretch of the Rajang River.
According to the Sarawak Marine Police, a team from the Sibu marine intelligence unit spotted a pile of logs that were tied to form a raft-like pattern during their patrol.
Further inspections found out a total of 25 logs of various types and sizes did not have any marks from the Sarawak Forest Department.
It is believed that the logs were obtained illegally.
Efforts to locate the owner and suspects around the area where the logs were discovered were not successful.
The team had lodged a police report and the case will be referred to the Sibu Regional Forest Department for further action.
