PUSA: Students of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kalok heaved a sigh of relief after a long-awaited new school was finally declared ready for use.
It was handed over yesterday by the Public Works Department (PWD) to the Sarawak Education Department.
According to Betong District Education Officer Mohamad Lela Alamshah, the completion of the new school ends a long wait for students.
“The school can now operate,” he said, adding, “it is up to the school when, the important thing is that it can be used.”
He explained that the school project involving the construction of 12 classrooms and six units of teachers’ quarters and other facilities started on September 2020 at a cost of over RM21 million.
SK Kalok is a school located under the administration of the Betong District Education Office.
It was first established in 1964 with a building comprising a roof and walls of nipah leaves.
