playing their respective roles to provide immediate food assistance, blankets and clothing to the fire victims.
“For further action in helping the fire victims of Rumah Messop, I will discuss with Kapit Member of Parliament Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi who’s Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development. This is important because we work as one BN Team. We will discuss on how best to assist those in dire need,” added Jamit.
Meanwhile Kapit District Officer Elvis Didit said he had directed the officers from National
Registration Department to go to the ground to help the fire victims for the registration of their lost documents.
“I was told they lost everything in the fire. I don’t want them to come up to Kapit to apply for the personal documentation. It’s costly and inconvenient. I want JPN to visit the longhouse’s fire victim to record the personal documentation,” added Elvis.
Yesterday morning both Malaysian Red Crescent Kapit Society and Lions Club Kapit provided food assistance, blankets and clothing to the victims.
