Longhouse folk get briefing on Digital Economy Centre

KANOWIT: A programme to familiarise the Digital Economy Centre (NADI) with the people was held by the Information Department at the Joseph James longhouse in the Kemiding region here.

Kemiding Region NADI Manager, Siti Hasyimah Hassan said the the centre is the main one in the district.

“The other five NADI Centres are located in Kanowit Town, Machan Market, Muhibbah Village, Nanga Tada and Nanga Ngungun.

“The Digital Economy Centre not only provides internet services for the purpose of finding jobs but also helps the community to market locally produced products to boost their economy,” she said.

In addition, Siti Hasyimah, said NADI has also allowed the purchasing of Revenue Board stamps which previously could only be purchased at the Post Office.

“But now, we can help in their purchase because payment is only through online banking,” she added.

Tuai Rumah Joseph James meanwhile called on the people to give their continuous cooperation to the department because many more programmes will be held in the future.

Also organised at the programme was a presentation on crime and personal safety measures by a representative from the Criminal Investigation Department of Kanowit and a road safety talk by the Sibu Road Transport Department (RTD).

Other programmes included a handicraft exhibition by the Rh Joseph James JKKK Women’s Bureau, a colouring competition and the RTD Mobile Sibu Counter Service.

Also present was Kanowit District Information Officer, Rinta Engkamat.
