KANOWIT: Rumah Entalai Asam residents at Sarau Baru in Machan near here are now enjoying 24-hour electricity supply under the Rural Electrification Scheme (RES) programme.

The longhouse chief Tuai Rumah Entalai, when met by reporters, thanked the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government for fulfilling their dream.

“We have been waiting for electricity for a long time to reach our longhouse.

“With the help of Allan, who is very concerned about the problems of the rural people like us, our desire has finally been fulfilled.

“It is therefore appropriate that all of us (residents of the longhouse) to continue to give our full support to Allan (and the GPS) in the coming election as they have been working hard to meet the needs of the people.

“Without the GPS government, we still have no electricity supply to this day,” explained the longhouse chief.

Meanwhile, Machan assemblyman Allan Siden Gramong, who officiated at the event, stressed that the GPS government has a strong plan for the people throughout the state especially the rural folk which aimed to bridge the gap between them and the townspeople.

“We have a specific plan for the rural population ― however, it cannot be implemented overnight because it will involve various procedures before a project can be approved and implemented.

“Therefore, I hope that all of you (the rural folk) will be patient in waiting for the development to come to your areas,” he pointed out, adding the GPS government has never ignored the needs of the people as claimed by few parties.
