BELAGA: Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon oversaw various renovation works in Long Dusan and Long Seripa situated in Sungai Jelalong in Tubau on Tuesday (July 26).

According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), the renovation works for the roof of the longhouses were conducted at the longhouses comprising Rumah Jau Dungau Long Seripa, Rumah Ballrully Kenai and Rumah MU Albert Lasah, Long Dusan in Sungai Jelalong.

Both renovations and change of roofing for the three longhouses came under the minor rural project (MRP) funding as well as the upgrading of housing for the poor or Penambahbaikan Rumah Miskin Rakyat Sarawak (PPRMS).

In addition to that, the renovation work is an initiative from the state government to help the locals in the area.

The local Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) organised communal works for the longhouse residents to help ensure the longhouses and surrounding areas are clean.

With the renovations, roof change and upgrading done, the assemblyman hopes the residents enjoy more comfort pertaining to their homes.
