BINTULU: Residents of longhouses under lockdown here have been warned against organising any form of social gatherings throughout the movement control order (MCO) period.

Bintulu Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) said they should adhere strictly to MCO standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Bintulu Resident Jack Aman, who is also DDMC chairman, said the SOPs were meant for their own good and to break the chain of infection.

“Many among the positive Covid-19 cases detected thus far were found to be asymptomatic. This type of cases, if not handled efficiently, can cause further spread.”

Jack said he understood the difficult situation faced by longhouse residents as most of them were working outside.

“However, once lockdown has been enforced, all residents of the affected longhouses are prohibited from going in and out, including to buy their daily needs and groceries.”

Under such circumstances, the Welfare Department would make arrangements to deliver food to every longhouse throughout the 14-day MCO, he pointed out.

“So, in the meantime, please stay indoors throughout the 14-day period until the swab tests confirmed you are negative.”

He also appealed to everyone in the division to register for vaccination.

Registration can be done either through the MySejahtera mobile app, or filling in the form which could be obtained at the nearest district office or the nearest government health clinic.
