SARIKEI: Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii recently allocated funds through the People’s Friendly Project or Projek Mesra Rakyat (PMR) to acquire building materials for the repairs of longhouses in Meradong.

Huang, who is also the Sarikei MP, submitted the application for the repairs of the longhouses through the  State Development Office of Sarawak after personally visiting the area and listening to the people’s issues recently.

Huang’s representative Gung Chiu Kion, attended and witnessed the completion of work ceremony for the PMR at Rh Junis Sg Kelupu and Rh Rabong Sg Stras on Tuesday (July 2).

In the meantime, a total of 60 households in Rumah Junis received thick planks for the purpose of repairing the longhouse, with the hope that the structure of the longhouse would be more robust and provide more convenience to the residents.

A total of 30 households in Rumah Rabong received roofing and bricks to repair the roof and structure of the longhouse.
