KAPIT: State Assemblyman for Pelagus Wilson Nyabong Ijang allocated a government grant of RM5,000 to the Women Bureau of Rumah Emak Lebau.
He made the announcement when he
recently officiated at the Ngiling Bidai do held at the said longhouse at Sungai Antaroh, Sut, Baleh.
The activity was jointly organised by Kapit District Office and JKKK Rumah Emak Lebau under the programme ‘Sarawak Celebrates’.
In his address Nyabong appealed to the people for them to continue supporting the government inorder to focus on development activities to uplift the social-economic status of the longhouse folks.
He cited example of the proposal for Jalan Antaroh/Sut to be tarsealed and the 24-hour electricity supply through the Rural Electricity Scheme. He added that last time it took several hours to travel to Kapit by river but now it only takes about fifty minutes by four-wheel drive. He observed landowners on both sides of the road would use their land for agriculture and they are seen every day at the market (council’s Market Teresang) to earn income.
BN Pelagus Service Centre is collecting data of those in dire need of government assistance. Nyabong told that he would do his best to assist them to apply for the various assistance schemes.
Also speaking at the function were political secretary to the Chief Minister Nicholas Kudi Jantai, Kapit District Officer Elvis Didit and Tuai Rumah Emak.
Also present at the function were Kapit police chief, DSP Freddy Bian, Special Branch Officer Chua Shu Hua, Police Inspector Romi Benet, Bukit Mabong District Officer Douglas Pungga, Walikota Kapit District Council Philimon Nuing, administrative officer at Kapit Resident office Minggu Jampong, Temenggong Wilfred Billy Panyau, Temenggong Tan Kian Hoo, Pemanca David Dian, Pemanca Yong Thu Fook, Pemanca Enggin Nyipa, Penghulu Undie Bajai, Penghulu Sallang Batang and some two longhouse folks and invited guests.
