KUCHING: Women are encouraged to venture into entrepreneurship by emulating successful female entrepreneurs as a source of inspiration.

Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali said both the federal and state governments are regularly introducing programmes to assist local entrepreneurs.

“I believe that the federal and state governments through the various agencies assist in various programmes to support entrepreneurs.

“The ministries overseeing women and entrepreneurship among others have several initiatives. Even the banks now are stepping forward to provide loans and financial assistance to help entrepreneurs,” she said when officiating at the opening of the Mira Cake House Premium outlet at Metro City New Township last night (May 22).

Hasidah, the Semariang assemblywoman, commended the success of the 64-year-old Mira Cake House owner Datin Masnah Sahani in establishing her premium outlet.

She noted that quality control of the layer cakes (kek lapis) was a major factor in Masnah’s success.

“In this kek lapis business, there is intense competition. To differentiate ourselves from others, our quality is crucial. I believe she has maintained the quality of her cakes, which has led to her success, Hasiah said.

Additionally, she believed that the useof social media played a crucial role in promoting Mira Cake House’s products.

This, she said, is in line with the government’s policy on digital economy.

“I believe many people are using social media and digital platforms. Now, you can market your products more successfully, for example, through TikTok and Facebook.

“There’s also Instagram, and all of these can be used to help us expand our business, but there must be the capacity to produce high-quality products,” she added.
