Time is fleeting, as it goes by without notice. The year 2022 has come and gone, and we are looking forward to new challenges, successes, and opportunities in this new year. Last year, we saw numerous things happen. And the most significant one for me was the transition to normalcy post-pandemic.

For me, 2023 is just like any other year. The months start over, but the struggle to survive continues. I don’t have many resolutions for the new year. I only hoped that I could achieve a higher level of success — this may be the most cliche resolution, but frankly, who doesn’t want to level up in life?

To mark a fresh start to the New Year, these Sarawakians shared their 2023 resolutions:

Roberta Chaya, 38, lecturer (currently on study leave)

“As usual, I would like to continue staying healthy, prioritising my family and living life to the fullest. But in 2023, in particular, I want to get my PhD done on time, so I need to fully commit and focus on it. I also don’t want to be away from my family for too long.”

“I believe I accomplished a lot in 2022. But there are problems that arise, which has inspired me to target these in 2023: more money (I want to upgrade my lifestyle, but since my only source of income is my salary, I aim to either get a raise or get another source of income), my own transportation and owning a property.”

Eva Ngu, 28, marketing officer

“I aim to be fitter and healthier this year because I’ve been on a weight loss journey since the start of 2022, and I also want to get into much better shape and become stronger this year. I also planned to try the Spartan Challenge because I’m curious to know where my body stands right now after going through a year of training and working out.”

Cyril Dason Kerine, 39, blogger

“As a blogger for KuchingBorneo.info, PhoneSentral.com, PendidikanMalaysia. My and SarawakCrocs.com, I hope that I can grow each of them to make sure they are more niche and have better traffic. This is my resolution every year. To make what I have into something better.”
